Challenge:

The 91-95 Washington Street Development was constructed in 1965 and is a 6-story building containing 82 apartment units with four (4) over-head traction type elevators. Design services were needed to modernize the four (4) elevator systems at this development to assure all components have a remaining minimum 20-year life expectancy.

Solution:

The scope of work included all necessary code related upgrades, including, but not limited to, controls, cabs, machinery, recalls, HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, new 100 KW emergency generator, electrical and mechanical systems, and other elevator components. All elevator systems were modernized in order to bring them in compliance with the Massachusetts State Elevator Code; Federal and Massachusetts Accessibility codes; as well as all other applicable codes.
