Challenge:

Perform a structural and waterproofing peer review for the Commencement Porch.

Solution:

After CBI performed the peer review, Holy Cross engaged CBI to complete preparation of the construction documents for the required structural and waterproofing renovations. The project scope included the removal of the existing tile finish and concrete slab on metal deck. The existing structural steel remained and was supplemented with new concrete footings, steel columns, wide flange steel beams, and a new concrete slab on metal deck was constructed over the steel framing. The new concrete slab was waterproofed and an elevated granite paver system installed to provide the finish surface of the porch. The existing two (2) granite stairways were disassembled to allow construction of new concrete walls and foundations with the granite treads and walls re-installed. The exterior granite walls were also repointed and the wrought iron railings repaired and painted.
