Challenge:

Perform complete exterior historical restoration of 120-year-old structure that houses Brown University’s Theatre, Speech and Dance Departments.

Solution:

CBI prepared design documents to replace the existing asphalt shingled roof with a new red slate roof in addition to the installation of a new PVC membrane at gutter liners and flat roofs. The scope of repairs also included masonry repair and repointing of the building façade, replacement of sandstone columns on the south side, and the installation of Dutchman at deteriorated stone. A complete window restoration was performed and new, historically accurate wood sash and trim were installed at the monumental windows of the main stairway in addition to the replacement of all wood sills at the dormers.
