Evaluate the causes of basement leakage and design repairs for waterproofing the building.
CBI designed and prepared contract documents for the installation of the roof membrane into a light well, the addition of new drains, and improvement of the pitch with new tapered insulation. CBI researched cigarette-resistant membrane and performed masonry pointing at the perimeter. CBI studied the deteriorated granite foundation and designed repairs. The scope of the work involved resetting granite stones, installing through-wall flashing and window sill flashing, replacing steel lintels, and repointing the masonry. During the project, the entire copper gutter and downspout system was replaced with new materials to match the existing. Eight courses of slate were replaced with historically accurate material around the entire perimeter of the roof, and a new ice and water shield was installed at the roof edge and at the new copper valleys.
