Challenge:

Perform an evaluation of the roofing area on three story cast-in-place concrete high school complex, with 130,000SF of roof, to compare the areas of water leakage conditions to the existing conditions on the roof. Repairs needed to be designed to meet the current budget and include the replacement of roofing where required and temporary repairs in other areas.

Solution:

CBI designed the replacement of 50,000SF of deteriorated ballasted rubber roofing with new adhered EPDM roofing over tapered insulation. Repairs were designed for disintegrating rubber flashings and expansion joint materials to reduce the likelihood of leakage in areas not reroofed. CBI also designed the capping and sealing of the mullions and glazing on the sloped atrium windows in the art classrooms to correct leakage through the windows.
