Blodgett Pool, Harvard University Cambridge, Massachusetts
Challenge:
Review the existing conditions of ceiling structure over the pool as required by the Massachusetts State Building Code. Pools must be inspected on a regular basis to insure that the structural elements supporting suspended ceiling as well as the structure itself are not corroding and failing due to heightened humidity levels within the space.
Solution:
CBI reviewed deteriorated concrete at the pool apron and at the structure of the diving platforms, likely as a result of high moisture content in the air. CBI was engaged to repair the building envelope at locations where excessive condensation, due to high humidity levels within the building had caused the steel stud backup of the brick to deteriorate and cause displacement.
