Collaborate with museum conservationists to design structural and seismic supports for large stone artifacts (from second century BC Egypt) that have to be kept aesthetically transparent.
CBI created an inverted pendulum structure which allowed each of the two ton Coptos Gate stones to be suspended from a transportable overhead structure sized to support gravity and pendulum loads. This minimalist approach caused the least amount of physical damage to material while protecting it between moves, this being a traveling exhibit. The structure columns were designed to telescope 3’ to meet display height constraints imposed by various venues.
