Challenge:
CBI Consulting Inc. was engaged by the concrete sub-contractor to review the capacity of the cast in place concrete basement slab at the Stata Center. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the feasibility of supporting the temporary formwork/shoring system for the proposed first floor concrete system directly on the basement level slab.
Solution:
CBI determined that the 36" thick basement level slabs were adequate to support the placement of the cast in place and concrete first floor system without reshoring beneath the basement slab. However, CBI provided the contractor with reshoring plans for the basement slabs less than 36” thick. CBI performed site inspections and coordination of shoring activities throughout the project.
